Knee's getting better. Ember's a psychokitty (redundant, I know). Mom's doing well, as is niece. I'm still looking for a good job, but I'm working part-time in a temp job. I'm telemarketing, basically, except I'm calling car dealers on the West Coast and shilling for eBay Motors, instead of calling people at home and harassing them. I'm not thrilled with it, so while I'm looking for professional jobs, I'm also looking for other clerical-type jobs. I'd slip in some of my California friends' phone numbers and chat, but the marketing firm is monitoring the calls :( I'm not a big phone person - I occasionally chat with people, but usually not for long periods of time - and I've never been fond of calling people I don't know.

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] dia, what are some of the current reference materials that are being used - both print and online? One job I applied for is in the library of a local technical college - I'm used to kid's stuff, not adult :)

Ok - March books:

Okay-good books: (3-3.9/5)
Paladins by Joel Rosenberg - fantasy
Wolverine: Weapon X by Marc Cerasini - science fiction/not graphic novel
Dead Heat by Caroline Carver - mystery
Jury of One by David Ellis - thriller
To Die For by Linda Howard - thriller/romance
Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett - fantasy

Good-pretty good: (4-4.9/5)
Petty Treason by Madeleine E. Robins - historical mystery
Second Sight by Philip R. Craig and William G. Tapply - mystery
Cold Service by Robert B. Parker - mystery
Puppet by Joy Fielding - thriller
Put a Lid on It by Donald Westlake - crime fiction
The Unbidden Truth by Kate Wilhelm - mystery
Pyramids by Terry Pratchett - fantasy
The Mayday by Bill Eidson - mystery
Twisted by Jonathan Kellerman - mystery
Bloodlines by Jan Burke - mystery

Darn good: (5's)
Wait Until Midnight by Amanda Quick - regency/mystery
Blood Memory by Greg Iles - thriller
Hot Target by Suzanne Brockmann - thriller
Tangerine by Edward Bloor - teen novel

Hot damn!: (5+)
The Bone Doll's Twin by Lynn Flewelling - fantasy
The Murder Artist by John Case - thriller

That's 22 for the month, 65 for the year and I still need books with titles starting with the letters
KOQVXYZ and books with authors starting with DLSTUVXY to finish up the AlphabetReaders challenge. I think I'll look for some of these when I go to the library - hopefully tomorrow.

Let me think....I've been on spring break, you know.

My current favorite reference source is the Gale Virtual Reference Library. We have all the titles that have been released electronically thus far.

We use the Opposing Viewpoints series a lot, for speech and English classes. Lots of career related information, everything from "Careers in/for...." to testing to resumes, etc.

Is the school *just* technical school? Or is it a more traditional 2-year community college with a variety of programs? A more focused technical school will likely have a more focused library. We have everything from the voc/tech programs to students who transfer on to a 4-year instutite for degrees in pretty much anything.

What's the school? I can take a look and see if I can offer any more specific suggestions.
