Is my birthday today - mine and my birthday twin Shirl, who's working on getting online again, yeah!

Still seeing my therapist - oh, yeah, neat story with that - I'm bartering services :) - librarian skills for therapy appointments. Since it's hard for me to get up to her office, we meet at her church in their library, which is basically just a room with some books. It has extremely nice handmade bookcases though - gorgeous things made by one of the congregation. All in all, around 1000 books maybe (a good half of which are in the pastor's office). So I'm going to catalog and arrange the library - at least until my disability comes through and I have insurance again. Now I just need to figure out how to make a database using OpenOffice Impress (I think that the one).

Cousin's cat is still here {sigh}. I finally got myself going on the roofer/electrician thing - to gut-clenching sticker shock. Possibly a way around some of it - I need to call him back and ask a couple of questions. I'm calling an electrician tomorrow, er... today - I delayed that because I needed to get niece's mom to come over to clean the place, so that the places in the house he'll need to see aren't complete pits of despair :) Oh, and cousin may be coming by tomorrow to see her cat (and get a deadline on picking him up) - yeah.

So, since my actual birthday might be a bit busy, I went to the movies tonight. And the theater has a punch card that gets you free stuff at certain visits - and tonight's visit was a free ticket! And I didn't even realize it, so it was a nice surprise. Went to see "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" - fun, lighthearted mindless fluff - just what I needed - plus popcorn!

And now On to the books for February )

James Herriot's Dog Stories by James Herriot - Read this for the Every Month a Holiday challenge - in honor of the Westminster Dog Show. Lovely stories about dogs - funny, tender, sad. (A to Z)

Red As Blood by Tanith Lee - twisted fairytales - some of the famous tales with wicked twists - such as a perfectly good stepmother, whose stepdaughter *reeks* of evil.

Chicks In Chainmail - warrior women, chicks with swords. Funny, fluffy. (A to Z)

all books: 100 books, 888

Dead Hunt by Beverly Connor - Forensic scientist and museum curator Diane Fallon finds herself under attack on both fronts when a museum purchase is accused of being stolen property and an escaped prisoner's blood shows up in her house. Both cases come together when Diane and crew figure out a criminal mastermind (and black widow) is out for revenge.

Nameless Night by G.M. Ford - I really liked this - the main character has no memories of who he is, except for a name. And when that name is sought out on the web for information, the government shows up and comes down hard on whoever was looking. It's a fairly standard conspiracy thriller, but I like Ford's work. (A to Z)

The Murderer's Club by P.D. Martin - The psychic part was a bit annoying, but it was nice that the character wasn't thrilled with her abilities and was reluctant to use them. The murderer's club idea I really liked. Need to find the first book in the series, but not having read it wasn't a problem - some references, but fairly well standalone.

Double Cross by James Patterson - Another good Alex Cross book - I like these so much more than his collaborations. Not as tight a story as some of the earlier ones, but still a page-turner.

all books: 100 books

I had a fairly nice day - made better by a niece visit (and no cousin visit[eg])

Also, a couple of pictures of my current visitor:

Here's the sleepy boy:

and here's his spotty tummy and tail :)
