Not me this time, but probably someone else who knows him and his habits. Which often amuses me, but often saddens me.

He just came over to use the phone - he'd been robbed. They stole some money, his phone, not sure what else, and his car, while he was out walking, which he does about this time every night, I think. And he didn't find out when he got home - no, they drove the car past him on the road.

Not the first time he's been robbed either. When my uncle still lived in the trailer above me, there was a hired live-in female helper (no idea what her hiring was based on). She had some pissant boyfriend that, at some point, was forbidden to be on our property (uncle's trailer is on our land). Brother got robbed while out of town - brother was positive the guy did it. I think some aspects of the robbery showed it was someone who knew him - definitely knew he was out of town, which girlfriend would have known. Girlfriend's letting boyfriend keep coming over finally resulted in her being told to leave, along with uncle needing to go to hospital. She probably should have been prosecuted for not doing her job, as I think uncle showed signs of neglect, but I don't know the whole story with that situation.

And now there are problems with the current tenants - and I do believe he thinks they have something to do with it. Or maybe told someone enough about him so that the third party could take advantage of his habits. Brother told me they weren't paying rent on time and he was giving them to a certain date and then would start eviction proceedings against them. I haven't heard anything else about it, so I thought maybe they'd caught up. These people are related to niece somehow, so it could get messy :(

He said next time he'd rent to stranger because it seems like he'd be better off. And asked me, only partly in jest, I think, just why all these people thought they could take advantage of him - did they think he was stupid or something? I said maybe since he was on disability and took pain meds, that possibly they thought he'd be too impaired to care or notice.

No possible idea on why people think they can get away with not paying rent, but given the way he pisses people off? Yeah, I could see someone giving out enough info for someone else to rob him. But the problem with telling him that... is that it would piss him off. So, yeah, not going there.

Am so damn glad that niece went over to her mom's tonight though.
