Lisa Gardner, who writes mystery/thrillers, has a contest: Kill a Friend, Maim a Buddy - where you can win a death/maiming for the person of your choosing - yourself or a friend. Gee, think of the greeting card: "I couldn't think of what to get you, so I'm having you brutally murdered in a novel. Happy Birthday!"
