My cousin Stacy, who went to all the surgery stuff with me back in December, is kind of making her a project, at least until her checks come in September. Annoying one did get the short end of the stick with the last place she stayed and the motel she was staying in was overcharging her. S. has a heart full of righteous fury right now :) and is intending on making AC go to the police to report the woman who kicked her out of the last place to hopefully get her stuff back - including some money. The woman should not have been able to kick AC out - she should have had to give her notice, but AC pretty much just accepts everything that happens as proof that the world hates her and wants to persecute her. The hotel was charging more than the rate on their sign said, but there aren't many other options, so she was stuck. S. is going to try to go after them for price gouging which is illegal here.

So AC is at S.'s house (which is her mom's house, where her mom, her semi-invalid dad and S's two girls (one of whom is old enough to move out on her own, but the enmeshment there is off the charts[g]) and maybe S's brother). They searched her and her stuff for drugs - she was high on something, but didn't have anything on her. And S is going to make her work for her keep until the checks come, when there is a possibility that there is a place she can rent (which S is also going to check out to make sure it's real).

So I'm going to take AC's clothes over this evening after class - and we're going to try to come up with a timeline of events to help bolster her case. S is also going to try to get AC to let her mom have her checks for a bit, as Mom is notoriously tight with cash and makes it last :) And if she does get this place, I still plan on giving her furniture from the storage unit - the sooner I get that cleaned out, the sooner I stop putting out $80/month.

So S is trying to make AC woman up and get her life straight, at least for a little bit. I really do hope it works. I do. But I'm not sure it can be done.


Now for the new drama! :)

Brother's criminal case is over - now the civil case by the other annoying cousin is coming up!! Mid-September, so before trip, thank all TPTB!

But he just can't admit that he messed up with niece and her mom. He called and made small talk for a bit - which he *never* does. He talked about how nice the house looks and about trying to get the metal vise that was mounted in the workroom part of the shed removed before the guy comes to demolish it. It's really funny - there's all this black ash and burnt wood - and a metal vise mounted on a metal pole sticking up out of the middle. Then he wants me to call niece to see how her first day of school went. She moved up to the high school this year, but the 9th graders (OMG! She's in the 9th grade! Where'd my cute little niece go!?) have a separate building. But he wants to make sure everything went okay.

Oh, and...

He wants me to bring up the civil case, since niece was a witness to a lot of it, to see if she's still willing to come to court and testify for him. All the while slagging off on her mom. He won't call - he doesn't want to chance talking to her mom and he's not sure she'll even take his call. But she will take mine ::preens:: Typical. Jerk.

Hopefully annoying male cousin won't even show up and the whole thing will get tossed. But, oh gods! until then I'm going to have to go over and over and over and over the whole thing. Because he. will. not. let. it. go! And will talk about it every time he sees me or talks to me until it's time. And then, after it's over, he'll gloat unbecomingly (because he *is* in the right on this and has proof) and rehash it constantly. Gadzooks! Why is he my brother!? More to the point, how the *hell* is he my brother?

They are - I don't understand it either.

I doubt niece's mom is as blameless as she presents herself, but I also know brother is a jerk :) She *was* smart enough not to marry him though.
